Experiments with fonts-helvetica

In the video in which Bruno Maag speaks, there’s a part where he talks about how not modernist helvetica  is (on the left) in relation to Akzidenz Grotesk (right). He claims that helvetica is ‘really poorly crafted’ and for example, if you start observing the ‘a’ character you see a swelling on the top of the character and generally some strange curves. He talks about how he likes the middle stroke coming out of the inside of the ‘a’ of Akzidenz Grotesk while there’s a ‘woolliness and fluffiness’ in the ‘a’ of Helvetica.

Thinking about these I made some rough experiments (for a cover, always) with Helvetica:
